Eligible Products

There a number of renewable energy products that are eligible to create RECs and VEECs under government schemes.

The types of products that may be eligible for Small-scale Technology Certificates include the following:

  • Residential-sized solar power systems
  • Residential Solar hot water systems
  • Residential Heat pump hot water systems
  • Small-scale hydro systems
  • Small-scale wind systems

The types of renewable energy sources that may be eligible for Large Generation Certificates include the following:

  • Solar energy
  • Wind
  • Ocean waves and tides
  • Geothermal-aquifers
  • Wood waste,
  • Agricultural waste
  • Bagasse (sugar cane waste) and Black liquor (a by-product of the paper-making process)
  • Landfill gas.

The types of products that may be eligible for Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificates (VEECs) include the following:

  • Efficient water heaters
  • LED lighting
  • Thermally efficient windows
  • Ceiling insulation
  • Weather sealing
  • Efficient pool pumps
  • Efficient clothes dryers
